A different route into law
Nadiye didn’t follow the traditional legal path. After a successful career in property, she made the jump into law after having a child and experiencing workplace bias.
“I’d always wanted to be a lawyer,” she says. “But it took a big life shift for me to finally go for it.” She credits her success to a mix of coaching, mentoring, and accountability to herself.
In-house legal life: Fast-paced and fulfilling
Working in a small, agile legal team means no two days are the same.
Nadiye works across multiple jurisdictions, balancing long-term projects with the day-to-day. She believes strong stakeholder relationships and visibility in the office help legal teams stay ahead and build trust.
Asking for more in legal roles
Promotion. Pay rises. Growth.
Nadiye encourages in-house lawyers to advocate for themselves – because no one else will. “Figure out what you want, why it’s good for the business, and ask,” she advises.
Crafty X: Building a space for honest conversations
Nadiye co-founded Crafty X with Eliza Kilpatrick to support junior lawyers navigating intersectional challenges. The group offers real talk about progression, bias, and finding your voice.
Powerlifting and progression
Yes, really.
Powerlifting has helped Nadiye thrive under pressure. “It’s about progress, not perfection. You try, fail, and try again. That mindset is key for in-house legal work,” she explains.

“Know your why,” Nadiye says. “That clarity will carry you through the uncertainty.” And when you get there? “Be the person who makes time for others coming up behind you.”
